Consolidated Cross | Archbishop Neale School

The Consolidated Cross

The school symbol “Joined in Faith, Heart, and Knowledge” is a sign of our unity as a Catholic consolidated school. This cross was designed by Sister Kathryn Clauss, IHM. Each section of the cross represents a parish of our consolidation whose members work together to provide a school where Christian values, Catholic doctrine, and academic standards are priorities.The heart in the center reminds us that Archbishop Neale School had its origins as Sacred Heart School headed by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It also reminds us that at the core of our school is LOVE, love for God and love for one another.

Our Catholic Identity

Through our interactions with one another, we recognize that we are encountering Christ in our daily lives. We strive to embody a Catholic identity in the following ways.

Catholic mass at Archbishop Neale School

Prayer

Every school day begins and ends with school-wide prayer as well as classroom prayer. Students also pray before and after lunch.

During Lent, our eighth graders present the Living Stations of the Cross as a meditation on the suffering and death of Jesus.

Liturgical Celebrations

School Masses are offered monthly, including Holy Days of Obligation, when they occur on a school day. Class Masses for students in grades K-8 are also offered monthly in our school chapel.

Reconciliation and Adoration/Benediction

Confessions are offered for third through eighth grades throughout the year. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is scheduled for all grades during Advent and Lent.

Family Groups

Family Groups are named for saints and are a multi-age experience of community for students and faculty. Faculty members serve as the Family Group leaders, and every student belongs to the same Family Group throughout his/her time at ANS. At the beginning of each school year, Family Groups meet to welcome new students and to re-discover the life story of the Family Group’s patron saint.

During the school year, Family Groups gather to attend school Masses and conduct service activities for the La Plata and surrounding communities. These opportunities allow older students to participate in Mass with younger students, help each other with service projects or activities, and ‘grow up’ together as brothers and sisters in a family. At the end of the school year, Family Groups recognize their graduating eighth graders with a farewell celebration.
